Nucleus RadioPharma Expanding Radiopharma Mfg Capacity 
Nucleus RadioPharma, a Rochester, Minnesota-based CDMO of radiopharmaceuticals, is expanding radiopharmaceutical development and manufacturing capacity with two new facilities totaling over 100,000 square feet in Mesa, Arizona, and Springhouse, Pennsylvania. The 53,000-square-foot Mesa site and the 48,000-square-foot facility in Spring House will create approximately 50 new jobs in each location.

NorthStar Medical Opens Radiopharma Mfg Facility 
NorthStar Medical Radioisotopes, a Beloit, Wisconsin-based CDMO of radiopharmaceuticals, has opened a new manufacturing center in Beloit, Wisconsin. The facility will provide development services and dose-manufacturing capacity for medical radioisotopes, including Ac-225, Lu-177, Cu-64, Cu-67, and In-111. The 52,000-square-foot facility will increase capacity for diagnostic and therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals.

Flamma Appoints New General Manager 
Flamma, a CDMO of small-molecule active pharmaceutical ingredients and intermediates, has announced the appointment of Giorgio Bertolini as the company’s new General Manager for Italy. As General Manager Italy, he will be responsible for the objectives and the economic results of Flamma’s three Italian sites. Bertolini has more than 30 years of industry experience, holding roles with other CDMOs.

Samsung Biologics Enters New $1.2-Bn Mfg Contract 
Samsung Biologics has announced a $1.24-billion contract manufacturing deal with an undisclosed Asia-based pharmaceutical company, making it the largest contract signed by a single client with the company. Production will take place at Samsung Biologics’ biomanufacturing site in Songdo, South Korea, and the contract runs through December 2037. With the latest agreement, the company’s accumulated contracts for 2024 surpasses $3.3 billion.

Rentschler Biopharma Expanding with New Buffer Media Facility 
Rentschler Biopharma, a CDMO of biologics, has announced the construction of a new buffer media station at the company’s headquarters in Laupheim, Germany..  

The four-story buffer media station, covering 34,000 square meters, is set to be operational by 2028, and will be integrated with existing infrastructure. The new facility will include three media tanks and six buffer tanks to provide space and capacity for the production of buffers and media.

Avantor Expands Partnership with NIBRT for Bioprocessing Training 
Avantor, a provider of products and services to the life sciences and advanced technologies industries, has expanded its partnership with the National Institute for Bioprocessing Research and Training (NIBRT), a Dublin, Ireland based research center for biomanuracturing. The new collaboration will focus on addressing bottlenecks, particularly in downstream optimization for monoclonal antibodies by providing equipment and specialized training. 

Avantor will provide aseptic fluid handling equipment, including Masterflex pump systems and supporting single-use systems. These tools are designed to create realistic bio/pharmaceutical workflows in NIBRT’s training rooms to give trainees hands-on experience with equipment that mirrors real-world industry settings. 

In addition, Avantor is developing and delivering training sessions for scale-up challenges.

Northway Biotech Opens New Cell & Gene-Therapy Mfg Facility 
Celltechna, a cell- and gene-therapy company and subsidiary of Northway Biotech, has opened a new 8,000-square-meter cell- and gene-therapy manufacturing center in Vilnius,  Lithuania. The facility is part of a larger economic development project in the country, Bio City, a long-term plan to create a city focused on the bio/pharmaceutical industry.

Mikart Adds Nitrogen-Purged Capability to Liquid Suspension Suites 
Mikart, a CDMO of drug products, has added nitrogen-purged liquid and suspension suites to enhance its manufacturing capabilities. The facilities are now fully equipped to manufacture and package liquid products under nitrogen, providing a controlled environment that prevents oxidation and degradation.

Bormioli To Supply Carbon-Capture PET Bottles to Chiesi 
Bormioli Pharma, a provider of pharmaceutical packaging, and Chiesi, a bio/pharmaceutical and healthcare group, have entered an agreement under which Bormioli will supply Carbon Capture polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles to Chiesi. These will be used to package a medication indicated for the prophylaxis and treatment of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis, as well as vasomotor rhinitis. 

 
Carbon Capture PET is produced by capturing carbon emissions, which are then transformed into BioMEG, a raw material used for manufacturing PET resin, through a fermentation process. The material is recyclable and maintains the same mechanical and physical performance as traditional PET.

Southwest Research Institute Breaks Ground on New Clinical Supply Facility 
Southwest Research Institute a San Antonio, Texas-based contract services company, has broken ground on a new 21,000-square-foot clinical supply facility. The new pilot plant facility will provide three new GMP suites and quality control labs.The company provides clinical supply services for active pharmaceutical ingredients and drug products.
