Sanofi, DHL Consolidate Distribution in Brazil
DHL Supply Chain, the contract logistics division within Deutsche Post DHL Group, has established a new distribution center in Guarulhos, near São Paulo, Brazil which consolidates the logistics operations of three Sanofi divisions in Brazil. The development of the new site means investments of EUR 200 million ($209 million) between 2015 and 2020.
The project is in line with Sanofi’s global strategy to strengthen its presence in emerging markets. Initiated by Sanofi in 2014, the project covers all portfolios of Sanofi, Sanofi Pasteur, and Medley Brazil. In addition to the operation of the newly installed logistics center, Sanofi has redesigned its distribution networks for the Brazilian market and the corresponding export processes. The new site is one of Sanofi’s largest distribution centers worldwide and the largest site operated by DHL in Brazil for the healthcare sector, according to DHL.
The Guarulhos site houses 36,000 square meters of storage area and almost 50,000 pallet positions located in proximity to Sanofi’s industrial plants, large consumer centers, and main logistical hubs such as the Port of Santos.
