Sanofi Completes Construction of New $554-M Vaccine & Biomedicine Facility
Sanofi has inaugurated a new EUR 500-million ($554-million) modular vaccines and biomedicines production unit, called Modulus, in Neuville-sur-Saône, Lyon, France.
Modulus can manufacture up to four vaccines or biomedicines simultaneously and be reconfigured in a few days or weeks to change its technological platform (live attenuated viral vaccines, recombinant protein or messenger RNA vaccines, as well as treatments derived from biotechnologies such as enzymes or monoclonal antibodies). The building houses the equivalent of 34 standardized mini-factories and has a surface area of 24,000 square meters.
It will be operational at the end of 2025, after qualification of the facilities and validation of the manufacturing processes. Sanofi plans to produce some of its future biomedicines and vaccines there.
