PCI Pharma Services, a Philadelphia, Pennsylvania-based pharmaceutical contract service provider, is investing in a laboratory expansion at its site in Tredegar, Wales, UK.

The Tredegar facility is PCI’s center of excellence for development and manufacturing with specialist experience in the processing of highly potent molecules. The site has undergone investments over recent years. The latest project is meant to ensure analytical capacity and capability.

The investment is expected to see the laboratory increase its analyst headcount by approximately 60% and increase its high-performance liquid chromatography capacity in excess of 20%, in addition to tripling its capacity for sample receipt. PCI says the layout design of the facility incorporates lean philosophies and optimized safety, combined with ergonomic principles, to deliver throughput and additional efficiency improvements.

This latest project is also expected to ensure that PCI is able to offer a project initiation in terms of analytical transfer within four to six weeks.
