Merck KGaA Names New Head of North American Healthcare Business
Merck KGaA has named Chris Round as President of EMD Serono, the North American healthcare business of Merck KGaA. The company also announced recruitment is ongoing for the Head of China & International of its healthcare business.
Mr. Round will assume the role of President of EMD Serono and lead the company’s healthcare business in the US and Canada and will be based in Rockland, Massachusetts. Mr. Round has been with the organization since 2017, previously serving as Head of International and Core Franchises and Head of Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). Mr. Round has 25 years of global pharmaceutical experience, including 20 years at Merck & Co.
The company has also named Andrew Paterson as Chief Marketing Officer for its healthcare business. He will lead global launch for existing and future therapies and will assume the lead for the specialty franchises of Merck KGaA, including oncology, neurology & immunology, and fertility. He has 30 years of leadership experience in the bio/pharmaceutical industry and previously led both North America and the global innovative medicine franchises for the company.
Recruitment is ongoing for Head of China & International for the company’s healthcare business, an executive position to lead the company Healthcare business in China, Japan, Asia-Pacific, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, Africa, and Russia as well as company’s cardiovascular metabolism & endocrinology franchise.
