Evonik Launches Bioresorbable Polymers for Parenteral Drugs
Evonik is expanding its Resomer portfolio of bioresorbable polymers for controlled-release parenteral drug formulations.
The company has launched Resomer Zero and Resomer Sterile versions of both its standard Resomer polymers and Resomer Select customized solutions.
Resomer Zero is an excipient achieved by means of a proprietary GMP process that eliminates residual tin content (1 ppm or less), according to Evonik. Resomer Zero is offered in a range of molecular weights and choice of polymer parameters. The polymer properties are designed to minimize degradation during melt processing.
Resomer Sterile is a sterile controlled-release poly (lactic-co-glycolic) acid (PLGA) excipient. This grade requires no further sterilization, according to the company. Evonik’s proprietary sterilization process is designed to deliver a low sterility-assurance level while protecting the polymers’ properties.
