Daiichi Sankyo Plans to Close API Plant in Japan
Daiichi Sankyo Company, Limited announced its decision to close its active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) and intermediates manufacturing plant in Hiratsuka, Japan. The plant is owned by its subsidiary, Daiichi Sankyo Chemical Pharma Co., Ltd. (DSCP).
The decision follows a move in April 2015 when the Daiichi Sankyo Group restructured domestic supply chain subsidiaries, aggregating API production within DSCP to further enhance business operations. Subsequently, a comprehensive assessment toward making API production more efficient and more competitive on a global level led to the decision to close the DSCP Hiratsuka Plant.
The plant employs 150 people. DSCP Hiratsuka plant production items will be transferred to other DSCP plants or outsourced.
DSCP Hiratsuka Plant production will end in March 2017, and the plant itself will close in September 2017.
