PCI Pharma Services Investing $50 M for New Packaging Facility for Injectables
PCI Pharma Services, a CDMO of drug products and a contract packager, is investing $50 million in a new 200,000-square-foot facility at its site in Rockford, Illinois, for specialized packaging for injectable drug-delivery-device combination products.
With over 20 dedicated suites, the new facility will support the assembly and packaging of vials, pre-filled syringes, auto-injectors, and pen-cartridges. The facility will be validated in the summer of 2024 with capacity reservation available immediately.
The investment is the latest in a series of manufacturing expansions by the company, including $100 million in a new large-scale sterile fill–finish facility in Bedford, New Hampshire, due to be operational in the fall of 2024, and robotic aseptic filling technologies already operational at the company’s facilities in San Diego, California, and Australia.

Bormioli Investing $55 M To Expand Pharma Packaging, Sustainability-Led Initiatives
Bormioli Pharma, a provider of pharmaceutical packaging, has launched its “50-in-5” program, which aims to achieve 50% sustainability in raw materials by 2025. The “50-in-5” program impacts the company’s entire manufacturing footprint by increasing use of recycled materials throughout production and adopting carbon-capture and green materials. To achieve this goal, Bormioli has been strengthening and expanding its industrial platform, with investments of EUR 50 million ($55 million) to date and plans for similar investments over the next three years to upgrade its high-value tubular glass vial capabilities and molded-glass platform while expanding cleanroom facilities for production of rubber and aluminum closures.
