Lonza, Altimmune in Mfg Pact for Intranasal COVID-19 Vaccine
Lonza and Altimmune, a Gaithersburg, Maryland-based clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company, have entered into an agreement to manufacture AdCOVID, Altimmune’s single-dose intranasal vaccine candidate for COVID-19.
The pact is part of Altimmune’s preparations for commercial readiness to supply vaccine in 2021 should clinical data support the advancement of the vaccine.
Altimmune says AdCOVID is expected to be shipped without a cold chain and permit common refrigerated storage conditions at community-based vaccination centers without the need for specialized freezer storage.

Eurofins Launches SARS-CoV-2 Test Kits
Eurofins Technologies, a provider of diagnostic technologies for immunoassays and molecular detection methods, has launched SARS-CoV-2 testing kits.
The GSD NovaPrime SARS-CoV-2 Mplex FLA (Sanger) assay detects two N gene fragments of the SARS-CoV-2 viral genome. The kit´s multiplex reactions also cover an intrinsic human housekeeping gene that functions as an internal control to confirm a successful sampling, extraction, amplification, and detection process.
The research-use-only version of the kit launched in Europe to enable laboratories to initiate internal validation and implementation activities. The CE-IVD-marked kit is close to completion and will be available within the next few weeks (as reported on November 5, 2020). In addition, Eurofins says it will apply for emergency use authorization of the kit with the US Food and Drug Administration.
