Albemarle Fine Chemistry Services Expands With New Operations Building

Albemarle Fine Chemistry Services, a supplier of regulatory starting materials (RSMs) and active pharmaceutical ingredients, is expanding its operations at its Tyrone, Pennsylvania custom- manufacturing facility, with the construction of a new operations building.

Construction began 15 months ago, and Albemarle says the new building will be fully operational within two weeks (approximately September 24, 2019). The new 8,900-square-foot facility will feature a new 400-foot control room and data center and a new 2,000-square-foot quality control laboratory.

Albemarle says the new laboratory will contain ample space for the integration of existing equipment, including inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry for elemental metal impurity analysis and will facilitate ongoing expansion of analytical capabilities. In addition, Albemarle says operations will be supported by a new 6,500-square-foot office complex.

Albemarle says it will be relocating the control room and data center, freeing up approximately 1,500 square feet of space to allow expansion of the existing research and development laboratory. Additionally, some of this space will be allocated for the construction of a new kilo lab, which will facilitate the production of early-stage RSMs at intermediate scales and will enhance on-site scale-up and development services.
