Shionogi & Co., an Osaka, Japan-headquartered pharmaceutical company, says it plans to establish a new wholly owned subsidiary, effective October 1, 2018, which will be in charge of manufacturing functions in the Shionogi group, including contract development manufacturing.

The new subsidiary will manufacture the medicines that Shionogi creates. In addition, the new manufacturing subsidiary will develop contract businesses, including manufacture of investigational drug products, analytical testing, pharmaceutical engineering as well as commercial contract pharmaceutical manufacturing.

Operation of the new manufacturing subsidiary will start on April 1, 2019. As further plans for the new subsidiary are elucidated, Shionogi says it will disclose the additional information.

The company’s manufacturing operations includes facilities in Settsu in Osaka Prefecture; Kanegasaki in Iwate Prefecture; Tokushima in Tokushima Prefecture; and Amagasaki in Hyōgo Prefecture.
