An Inside Look at DCAT Week 2023
DCAT Week 2023 flourished with record-breaking engagement at all levels. New York City hummed with excitement as DCAT Member Companies conducted high-level business meetings, attended sessions with thought leaders, and met with customers and suppliers.
The Education Programs at DCAT Week provided attendees with market insights on the performance of the global bio/pharmaceutical industry, as well as perspectives on approaches in supply management. Always a much-anticipated program, the Pharma Industry Outlook featured Graham Lewis, Vice President of Global Pharma Strategy, IQVIA, who provided key market data and analysis on the industry’s performance in 2022 and what can be expected in 2023 and the near term. In other programs, executives and other experts shared perspectives on better supply practices, risk assessment, and mitigation in light of recent market volatility (inflationary pressures, supply-chain disruptions, and geopolitical uncertainty). Also, rising raw material costs and sustainability were addressed separately, with an energy and chemicals outlook provided by NexantECA, and a Chief Procurement Officer (CPO) view of sustainability and the role it plays in supplier selection and evaluation presented by GSK.
At the Women’s Networking Breakfast, Dr. Elizabeth Lombardo (Dr. E), psychologist and best-selling author, shared how to “Get Out of the Red Zone” as a way to transform stress and optimize true success. Michele Cavalheiro, DCAT Alliance for Industry Women Committee Chair and Key Account Manager, Vetter Pharma International USA Inc., shared, “Dr. E’s high-energy and laughter creates excitement in her speaking engagements. She is so relatable … to anyone who breathes. I have already used her breathing techniques/exercises a few times to stay out of the red zone.”
Networking opportunities were built into the schedule throughout the week, with education sessions offering 30 minutes of dedicated time before most programs. DCAT Week also hosted a networking welcome for its 128 new Member Companies. The traditional Tuesday evening Member Networking Reception was record-breaking with over 1,000 attendees. The space was expanded so members had more room to meet, exchange business cards, and see colleagues both old and new.
DCAT Week came to a close with the SOLD OUT 95th DCAT Annual Dinner at the New York Hilton, where special guest Jerry Seinfeld entertained the crowd with a one-hour standup performance. The evening kicked off with videos from Member Companies who submitted video reenactments of their favorite scenes from the popular Seinfeld sitcom. Congratulations to the winning Member Company, Chattem Chemicals, Inc., who created a crowd-pleasing impersonation of Elaine’s awkward dance moves! The evening concluded with Post-Dinner Hospitality events hosted by several Member Companies, which were well attended and where the networking continued until midnight.
Thanks to the support of our Member Company Community, DCAT Week continues to be the premier event for companies engaged in the global Bio/Pharmaceutical manufacturing value chain. Special appreciation goes to our Sponsors who made the event possible. See our 2023 Sponsors and Annual Dinner Sponsors.
