Moderna, Canadian Gov’t Plan Pact for New mRNA Mfg Facility
Moderna, a bio/pharmaceutical company developing messenger RNA (mRNA) therapeutics and vaccines, has announced a memorandum of understanding with the Canadian government to build a mRNA vaccine-manufacturing facility in Canada.
The facility would provide Canada with access to a domestically manufactured portfolio of mRNA vaccines against respiratory viruses, including COVID-19, seasonal influenza, respiratory syncytial virus, and potential other vaccines, pending licensure. Moderna expects to invest in the manufacturing facility with the collaboration of the Canadian government.
Moderna is in discussion with other governments about potential collaborations built on a similar model.
