Servier CDMO Expands Chromatography Platform
Servier CDMO, the contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) division of Servier, a Suresnes, France-headquartered pharmaceutical company, has invested $7.5 million in chromatography technology.
The investment includes continuous chromatography with simulated moving bed and super critical fluid chromatography with solvent recycling of up to 90% to lower environmental impact.
Servier CDMO expects at least a 50% increase in productivity in addition to the existing configuration of the high-volume batch columns that are used to manufacture drug substances. The company says the investment will allow the chemical purification of 50 kg per day and chiral separation of 10 kg per day to support clinical trials and market supply upon drug approvals.
The team at the Bolbec, Normandy site is composed of workers in chemical processes and is certified to handle highly potent compounds to occupational exposure band five. The Bolbec facility specializes in intermediates and active pharmaceutical development, production, and distribution.
