Private Equity Firm MidEuropa Acquires Controlling Stake in CDMO Famar 
MidEuropa, a private equity firm, has agreed to acquire a controlling stake in Famar, an European CDMO of drug products, from ECM Partners and Metric Capital Partners.  

Famar is a CDMO of  sterile liquid, solid, and semi-solid finished dosage forms and R&D services. The company has a workforce of approximately 1,900 employees across a network of six manufacturing sites and two R&D centers in Spain, Italy, and Greece.  

MidEuropa is taking its controlling stake, alongside the management team and current shareholders, which will retain a minority stake. The transaction, which is subject to customary antitrust and regulatory approvals, is expected to close in the second half of 2024.

SPI Pharma, Inimmune in Vaccine Adjuvant Pact 
SPI Pharma, a manufacturer of excipients and other pharma ingredients and services, and Inimmune, a Missoula, Montana-based bio/pharma company specializing in the discovery and development of immunotherapeutics, vaccine adjuvants, and vaccines, have entered an agreement to develop and commercialize advanced adjuvant systems for vaccine development. The collaboration will apply Inimmune’s expertise in adjuvant formulation and immunotherapeutics and SPI Pharma’s manufacturing and global commercial capabilities.

RxSource To Move to Expanded Facility 
RxSource, a Richmond Hill, Ontaria, Canada-based provider of clinical trial supply services, has announced an expansion of its US operations by relocating from its current site in Secaucus, New Jersey, to a larger facility in West Deptford, New Jersey. This move will increase RxSource’s US operational footprint to over 48,000 square feet. 

RxSource will begin outfitting the West Deptford facility with advanced infrastructure, including an air-handling system and specialized cold-chain packaging and labeling rooms. The new facility is projected to be fully operational by late 2024.

Alcami Opens New Storage Facility 
Alcami, a CDMO of drug products and provider of analytical testing services, has opened a new 65,000-square-foot pharma storage and services operations facility in Garner, North Carolina. 

The new facility adds to the company’s network of GMP storage facilities across North America. The site will phase in stability storage and aliquoting, followed by cold storage later this year (2024).
